On pins and needles (figuratively, of course!)!

Caroline and I go in to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center (MDACC) this afternoon to meet with my wonderful, wizardly surgeon, Dr. Paul Mansfield!  We'll learn the results of my most recent CT scan (Computerized Tomography, an amazing way to get exposed to the equivalent of hundreds, if not thousands, of chest x-rays all within the space of half an hour, at the most!), which I had over a week ago, on Wednesday, September 7, 2011 (which also happened to be the 60th wedding anniversary of my Uncle Dick and Aunt Helen, and which also was one day before the 55th wedding anniversary of my parents, Burr and Cynthia!)--it has been a little nerve-wracking waiting to get the results of the CT scan.  We're sincerely hoping and praying that the result is N.E.D. (No Evidence of Disease)!  If we do get the result of N.E.D., that would be truly wonderful!  I may not even have to take another chemotherapy treatment, which I'm currently scheduled to receive tomorrow!  On the other hand, if there is still some E.D. (Evidence of Disease, not Environmental Defense or that other "ED" that involves little blue pills!), that will, of course, be somewhat disappointing, but at least we will know more about what's going on with any tumors that happen to be hanging around, uninvited and definitely unwelcome, in my body!  We're scheduled to meet with my wonderful, sagacious colorectal oncologist, Dr. Imad Shureiqi, tomorrow to further discuss the CT scan results (whatever they are!) and determine where we go from here, treatment-wise!  As is said sometimes in Latin, Dum Spiro, Spero (while there's breath, there's hope!)!

  1. "Dum Spriro, Spero." Funny coincidence--I just bought an inscribed brick at the college I work at, for our new construction and plaza, and I used that exact same phrase on the brick!

Good to meet you and your lovely wife earlier this week. Sending good vibes your way!
